The WEC is a 3-bladed pitch regulated wind turbine with variable speed.
The loads are calculated with the following rotor blades:
ae2.5-50.3 acc. to GL/IEC type class TC3A
ae2.5-46.9 acc. to GL/IEC type class TC2A+ (extreme wind speeds of TC1)
The drive train and all other main components should be designed for synchronous and asynchronous operation.
The whole WEC will be defined in two different configurations for the diverging ambient conditions ˇ°normalˇ±/ˇ±hotˇ± and ˇ°cold climateˇ±.
The hot and cold climate version must be failsafe against sandstorm.
The WEC will be designed with a synchronous as well as with an asynchronous generator.
